Headlights - Removal and Installation

This applies to all supras from 1982 onwards. First of all raise the headlights, then disconnect the negative cable from the battery.  The headlights will remain up.

1) Remove the four screws from the headlight bezel and lift off the bezel.
2) Remove the four screws from the headlight retaining ring and take off the outer ring.  You might need to use a spanner not a screw driver.
3) Pull out the headlight far enough to unplug the electrical connections and remove the headlight.

When refixing make sure you re-adjust the headlight beam.

Headlights - Adjustment

It is important that the headlights be aimed correctly.  The headlights should be checked or proper aim every 12 months and any time a new headlight is installed or front end body work is performed.

1) Headlights have two adjusting screws, one on the top controlling up and down movement and one on the side controlling left and right movement.
2) There are several methods of adjusting the headlights.  The simplest method requires the vehicle to be parked only a few inches from the a wall.
3) Adjustment should be made with the vehicle sitting level, the gas tank half full and no unusually heavy load in the vehicle.
4) Starting with low beam adjustment, position the high intensity zone so it is just below a horizontal line (layer of bricks on wall).  Adjustment on a sealed beam equipped models is made by turning the top adjusting screw clock wise to raise the beam and counter clockwise to lower the beam.  The adjustment screw on the side should be used in the same manner to move the beam left or right.
