Fogs on tell-tail

How to use the light fail warning system on an imported MkIV as a drivers "fog on" tell tail as this is an MOT requirement.

The author used the diagrams found here that were produced by Pete Betts for his rear fogs. After wiring it all together the rear warning light kept coming on, which is expected. To avoid the normal fix of removing this bulb, he created this modification so you can use the light as a tell-tail and save having to fix another LED somewhere on the dash.

Procedure

Remove panel in boot with boot light
Locate light warning system box (tucked into frame)
  1. Cut and insulate yellow wire (this is a hold circuit wire and is not needed)
  2. Cut violet wires and fit 4 pin relay as shown
  3. Cut black and white wire and attach to relay
  4. Attach ground wire and also wire to 12V supply. 12V supply to relay to be taken from supply to relays used to turn on fogs, if this supply is in turn taken from the front fogs or switch, all wiring is hidden with no dash cutting.
